You can't catch the big fish so easy. This is a whale... Bozkir series directed by Bahadir Ince and written by Levent Cantek; It is a taking attention production with its strong cast. As the series was broadcast on the internet, the director and screenwriter were able to reflect the story freely. Bozkir tells the story of two cops working in a small city. In Bozkir, where we witnessed the events in a city with 88 plates in Anatolia; We can understand that the city is a dream product. However, the events are not imaginary at all. In Bozkir, children and people are killed and the murders are following each other. A calm and cool police chief and an excited adolescent police officer with high potential starts to investigate these murders. Seyfi and Nuri Pamir, two police officers who have to act in accordance with the conditions of the country. Events are not developing rapidly. Almost everything we see is a reality that can be experienced in this country. It is possible to understand that the story is carefully edited. One of the most successful details in the scenario is the addition of Syrians one of the biggest problems in the country to story. The agenda and the conditions of the country are well transferred to the scenario. We listen to the story from Nuri Pamir's voice. The external voices bring a breath of fresh air to the series, and generally the audience likes this. Some viewers don't like it, because they think it's because of worrying about understanding the characters and the universe created. One of the masterpieces of Nuri Bilge Ceylan, we can say that it has a serious similarity visually with Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. Although the characters and places seem to be similar to other crime-drama series, the events in this city are conveyed in a very unique way. The colors, texture and atmosphere of Bozkir convince us that the events are indeed in an unknown but familiar city. The locations, the shooting angles and the acting were really good. Dialogues are not bad. The series does not have a high budget, so it breaks down the perception that a lot of money will be spent on good jobs.
The ambience of the town, the public buildings, the public in town and the atmosphere, together with many low-budget factors in general, providing you with everything you need for a compact crime-drama series. This increase in the number of internet series in Turkey allows people to look at the future with hope. Ahmet Kozan

"Berlin, Tokyo, Rio, Nairobi, Moscow, Denver, Helsinki and Oslo... More than a city..." La Casa De Papel is a robbery story made in Spain written by Álex Pina, who did successful work in crime and drama genres. If there's nothing stolen, is that still a robbery? How much time is needed to make a perfect robbery plan? A few days, a couple of weeks, maybe months... So, how long will it take for a robbery plan to be destroyed? Is love a good reason for everything to be destroyed? Here is the answer to all these questions and more in this series. Whoever found this series for Netflix and acquired it from Antena 3 deserves an award. La casa de papel became the most watched non-English series on Netflix ever. There is such a lot to say about this series. First, it is necessary to recognize characters that use the city names. As he is understood named, he is the most intelligent and mysterious character in the series. The brain of the robbery. He thinks the plan to the smallest detail and he has an intelligence that surprises everyone with the solutions he brings to the obstacles that arise during the robbery. He is a person who is defined as a ghost for government who does not even have a criminal record. She is attracting attention with haircut. She is one of the most fearless members of the team. She has no expectations from life, who does not think about own future, someone who has passed life with robberies since she was very young. She is the person who tells the story from the beginning to the end. My favorite character in the series. He is the internal leader of the robbery. There's a warrant for 27 arrests about him. A leader who thinks the best for his team and doesn't think of anything except the plan. Particularly, he is the performance in the final episode of the series is among the memorable. An expert in hacking and coding. He's been writing codes since he was six. There's nothing he doesn't know about alarms or electronics. His name is in Interpol's wanted list. He is very young and inclined to make emotional decisions. Moscow is both Denver and the whole team's father so to speak. He has made many successful robberies with his vast knowledge of mining and excavation works. He's got a soft heart and nothing he can't do for his son. A name respected by the team. Moscow's son. He has a bum and pure personality. Someone who can cause a fight at any moment he is not very smart. Maybe the most intimate member of the team. It's a time bomb for a faultless robbery. He won great sympathy with his laugh over. She is the quality control controller of the team. She has a tough life. Although she had a difficult childhood, she still optimistic. She makes her livelihood by doing fraud and selling drugs. She is one of the most fun and cheerful members of the team. They symbolize the muscle strength of the team. Although cousins of Serbian origin are too ignorant, they are closing their cons with their physical strength. They fulfill every order. In the first chapter, the team enters the mint with Dali masks and red overalls and the robbery begins. In each chapter, we learn what happens within the mint during the days and what kind of a plan the Professor thinks of every possibility in the preparation period of the robbery. When you say "I understood the plan" other things come to light. Every chapter is so intricately connected, so well written and cleverly edited that when a series like this comes along, it deserves to be applauded and praised. The scenes that show the background of the characters, the perfect moments where we can enjoy the series. And we have to admit that we're watching aesthetically beautiful scenes. The use of color, the use of music and the cinematography are of high quality. The acting was perfectly. Not only the robbery team, all the actors very successful. Berlin and Nairobi are written in detail and original. Two favorite characters for me. This series gives a lot of big messages. First of all, Dali masks are not an ordinary choice. Salvador Dali is a painter who inherited life that is contrary to popular morality and common customs. He has never accepted the imperatives from the society and the right to wrong moral codes. The Dali masks represent the rebellion against the system. The red overalls and Berlin's speeches represent socialism. The wearers are socialist comrades and fighting. The mint and cops represent capitalism. In capitalism money sets everything. Even morals will set money. So when someone attacks the money, those people are declared bad. When attacked by money, capitalism is waging a war against the attackers with its armed and visual mechanisms. It is also possible to see the Professor's uprising against the capitalist system. He does not see his act as a robbery and reinforces his thesis by criticizing the European Central Bank's cash flow. The professor is symbolizing the scientific perspective and accounting. After all, scientific thinking and accountability overcome all kinds of problems. But he can't resist love. I have not seen such meaningful socialism for a long time. Moreover, Salvador Dali's tactic was used in the series. You think you are watching the events, but every time you have a deep meaning and message. One of the best references in this series was the Stockholm Syndrome. Due to the situation between Denver and one hostage, this syndrome was successfully processed. Bella Ciao, the Italian partisans' anthem who fought against fascism during World War II, was a factor that made the series beautiful. The most critical scenes of the series have become even more impressive thanks to Bella Ciao. Bella Ciao is the symbol of socialism. It's not just a show or a script. It is a wonderful work as a philosophy. There is a big slap in the capitalist system. It would not be wrong to say that La Casa De Papel gave what was expected from the story of a robbery in general, and that it was able to offer both an exciting and entertaining story with rational moves without forcing the rules of logic. There is nothing bad in the series except a few logic failures. It's nice also that the series is spanish. As you hear the Spanish accent, a smile will appear on your face. One-to-one for those who want to watch a cleverly planned robbery adventure.
Ahmet Kozan “The difference between past, present and future is only a persistent illusion, but this illusion is very powerful.”- Albert Einstein The original first German series of Netflix, Dark's script the film which was acclaimed with its cleverly written screenplay belong to "Who am I" screenwriter Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. The Dark deserves praise. It is known by some people as the Stranger Things of Germany. It can be likened to in terms of time travel, little town and lost children. But these two series are different in my opinion. The closest I can come up with is that is reminds me of the eerie feeling of Donnie Darko. Dark's poster was intrigued by me, so I gave it a chance and I'm glad I watched. The mysterious, cold, dark atmosphere of the town where the events take place passes to the audience. And the rain, which is constantly falling, reinforces the gloomy mood of the series. The theme music of Dark by Ben Frost, which perfectly complements this atmosphere, makes a great contribution to the escalation of tension. The series can be rather slow and can often feel like it's going to take the approach of lost leaving questions unanswered, but it does all lead somewhere and it's an intriguing time travel thriller/mystery with some amazing performances. The story begins with the disappearance of a child in a small German town Winden. Then the disappearance of another child and the relationship between the four families in town slowly emerges. The story Dark's trying to tell is so complicated that you can't watch it so comfortably. Trying to keep in mind the relationships between characters and each other requires a lot of effort. As the episodes progress, the number of characters increases and the relationships between them are becoming more complex. The series takes place in two time zones and then in three different time zones, and until almost the last episode, these streams hide their mysteries and a new puzzle comes out from under each event. Don't forget to note the characters and relationships between them in order to alleviate this complex structure of Dark. A complete masterpiece in terms of the view. The cinematography and the choice of place is quite good. The environments in 1953, 1986 and 2019 are so well-placed. You get a German town mood. Actor selections were just as good. Especially images of each character in three different time is great. There's no actor I think is bad. Both young actors and adults do great work. Do not watch the English dubbing. It's terrible. It feels like amateur, emotionless actors reading a script for the first time. If you're not watching the original German then you're doing yourself a massive disservice. In the season finale, we will see the sci-fi elements more intensively as the year 2052 is included in time travel. Dark is a series that to be loved with its originality, atmosphere and characters. The pace and jumps between story arcs is excellent. I was hooked from the beginning to end. If you are interested in stories that are mysterious, gloomy, playing with time and perception, If you do not object to the incessant operation of your brain while watching, Dark is for you.
Ahmet Kozan Jed Mercurio’s series spins crime, a good and inconceivable conspiracies, deep state, terrorism and more. Bodyguard, a political thriller series, is a solidly series. It races through 6 episodes full speed ahead with turns and surprises. Bodyguard tells the fictional story of David Budd, a heroic but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. When he is assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary Julia Montague, whose politics stand for everything he despises, Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. I think the British are usually successful in thriller genre. And I've seen that they are really successful with this series. The series made an excellent beginning with the opening scene. I can say that, the first 20 minutes of Bodyguard are arguably one of the best thriller scenes. From that moment onwards, I knew I had to watch all of episodes as quickly. At some moments the tension was so high that I could feel the excitement. Action scenes were very successful, directors and cinematographer did well. The scenario is not unnecessarily extended, the series has a realistic fiction in general, and you get excited while watching. The action is so good so that you can't talk about some scenes being stagnant because there is a team that reflects emotions very well. What’s really impressive about this series are the breathtaking action-packed scenes. It’s here where it really deserves. As with most dramas, it skews dark, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing for the world it is portraying. There’s also a timeliness to it that feels important in the current political climate. It’s good to raise issues, whether they are resolved or not, and get people thinking about what freedom is worth. Putting a face on opposing viewpoints is also beneficial. There are two things that make Bodyguard stand out from a lot of the other similar series in this genre and the first is the way it good manages thriller. The first twenty minutes of the first episode is a really good example of this. The second one is acting. The entire cast is giving very good performances, in what are at times really difficult roles. The acting, particularly from Richard Madden, is outstanding. Best known for his role as Robb Stark in Game Of Thrones, Richard Madden has an incredibly difficult job of playing someone whose world is starting to fall apart. (I couldn't get enough of watching him in the Game Of Thrones.) David Budd is a profoundly interesting character. He’s complicated, smart, one step ahead of everyone, determined and strong. He’s also a traumatized person when he served in Afghanistan. Richard Madden did a good job. What I like most is that it grips you from the first episode and keeps you interested until the very end and they don't do some cheap crime-drama out with the ending either. In general everything was satisfactory. The story wraps up so well that it’s hard to think where it could progress from here. As a whole it is effectively created but unfortunately in the final episode some lapses in logic bring the quality ever so slightly down. Except this the only thing I find bad is the scenes where David and Julia lie in bed together. I mean, how cliché could be? It didn't need to. I highly recommend Bodyguard. It’s a perfect thriller series. As direction, acting, and production design, Bodyguard is very good. Only six episodes, but each of them is well worth your time. You can also be happy to hear British accent. You can even watch Sergeant David Budd to say, "Ma'am!". Because it came to me funny in a positive.
Ahmet Kozan The Haunting of Hill House novel was adapted by Netflix this time. Shirley Jackson's this novel is considered one of the most important works of horror literature. We can actually say The Haunting of Hill House it offers a typical haunted house narrative. Series does this with drama and tragedy. The series describes the events that are progressing in two different time periods. That's what I like most about the series. In the first part, we witness the process up to tragic night the family lived. In the second part, we see the events that took place about 20 years later. In the intervening period, the ties of the family members have been weakened and each family member has chosen a different life. I liked this fiction of the series. We begin by being introduced to main characters of the series. A family of seven, five children and two parents. The series starts in 2018 and we are introduced to a grown up version of the family. We instantly make our snap judgements of the characters, usually negative in most cases. And then in the style of Lost, we experience the story of each character (with one episode being allocated to one member) in a double flashback fashion. First, we saw the story of the children whom lived at Hill House many years ago. And then we saw a more recent story of the character that leads them to present day. I want to say that this version of story telling is not unique to "The Haunting of Hill House", however, it might be that it is the best implementation of it I have seen to date. Utterly gripping. I don't know if anyone reads the novel. I have had the opportunity to read years ago. I liked it. The series isn't exactly a novel. There are serious changes. Of course a good change. The series sells us this incredible multifaceted mystery, that intertwines throughout the years, and where none of the family are on the same page. And it does a wonderful job of tying up all those narratives, all those moments that you just let go as a "glitch in the system" but later it would call back to it and you would understand a mystery you didn't even know existed. With that, it is important to recognise the fantastic job the series did of revealing the "How" of the series. How everything tied together. It is a very serious tragedy that reunites the siblings who have moved so severely away from each other- even if they are not very voluntary. The way that these two tragedies connect to each other is The Haunting of Hill House's greatest success in directing. He focuses on the stories of different siblings in different chapters, and he does not hesitate to display the stunning points that individual stories touches. In fact, each time, we see that there are different points of events. We see the same event from other perspectives. Thus, the story of the family takes on a more intense dramatic structure, on the other hand it is becoming more and more complex thanks to the different details revealed. The funeral scene in chapter 6 was a really great filming. It was quite nice that the scene was filming in a single sequence. It is one of the most impressive feats I’ve ever seen on TV. It’s pure theater with very few cuts. So to say, Mike Flanagan is giving lesson on directing. The acting was very nice. Actors had been fully comply to their roles. Part, especially the funeral scene, with one word; Great. Also child players and adults really look like each other. The cast selection of the series is really successful. A fan of black and white horror movies I am well acquainted with Robert Wise's 1963 "The Haunting", which to this day stands out to me as a classic of the haunted house horror genre. Netflix's "The Haunting of Hill House" retains a lot of what makes that movie so great while also branching out on its own and introducing diverse and interesting characters. While there is a definite difference of rating and the series opted to go into the realm of color TV I consider both to be entertaining and chilling in what makes classic horror effective. There's even familiar nods to the movie- the iconic spiral staircase, a scene where two people are scared out of there minds by the walls seemingly coming alive and starting to shake, etc. This series falls more in the suspense than in horror and evidently if you are one of those who thinks that horror means gallons of blood and deaths every 20 minutes, forget it. While the series fulfills the requirements of the horror genre, it does this through a family drama. This was a situation that really affected me. You feel shudder in every minute of the series. Where the Netflix series really stands out to me is by tying all of the horror elements to PTSD, making you question whether these horrors are really just confined to the house, the people who lived in it, or both. The characters are somehow trying to live out their lives to the fullest and keep their sanity after the history and tragic memories of living in a haunted house. Each character believes different things about what happened there, and each is damaged in their own way. It feels somewhat reminiscent to TV series like Lost in a way. This series goes pretty deep into this reality and for some it could possibly hit a little too close to home. A well-designed horror story, colors dominated by constant cold tones, uncanny music, makes the Haunting of Hill House above a certain level in terms of the horror genre. The created atmosphere definitely attracts the viewer. The mystical and gloomy weather at the house gives a frightening look. It would be unfair to evaluate the sequence with pure fear norms. We can accept this series as a creepy family drama.
Ahmet Kozan It's easy to make a series, but it's hard to reveal a nice series. Fantastic stories can be nice if handled well but this is as difficult as making a nice series. Especially more difficult to do in Turkey. When I first heard the news about this series, I thought that there would be artificial dialogues and lousy acting. But when I watched the trailer, my expectations were too high. It was a good trailer from what I expected. I watched all the episodes when the series came out. As of the first episode, I liked the dark atmosphere created in the series. We saw Istanbul in a way we had never seen before. When I saw the first episode, I said "yes", this time it happened. But unfortunately the series moved on very badly after the second episode. It is good that the story dates back to the Ottoman period, but it is bad that it is based on revenge. A girl turned into a vampire comes to Istanbul for revenge years later. I don't like this script. It's not an attractive scenario for me. I can't say that the series is good except for a few elements. I liked the environment created in the series. In accordance with a story that passes today, but goes beyond time; it is colored with sharp and bright lights and has a misty and mysterious atmosphere. In almost every scene, the use of hot and cold colors is enriched with a lot of visuals. Before I started watching the series I was nervous about the success of the visual effects, but they were quite well practiced. The technical flaws of the directory seemed to be mostly in the editing. In the transitions of the scenes, there were disjointed and confused places in the connections of events. The other thing that bothered me is the characteristics of vampires. Our native vampires are a little different from the vampires we know. The vampires have never used the speed characteristics, or that's not this the speed I understand. Unfortunately, the action scenes was very few. Vampires had a fighting scene, and I don't even want to mention it. You're expecting a big battle between vampires and hunters until you get to the last episode of the series. But there's not even one battle in the series. The final episode has been very big disappointment. Yeah well, I said now will be war. But it's not. All the vampires gave up and ran away. It's bullshit. I didn't think it would be so bad. I want to mention about the cast of the series. Although the dialogues are very artificial the acting was above average. Especially Birkan Sokullu was good. I think he fits the vampire role. I couldn't love Kerem Bürsin. He seemed very American. He was grinning among other actors. It might even be an advantage if it were thought to portray a non-Turk character, but it is a bit odd among the other characters. Mia, played by Elçin Sangu, is quite cold and distant character. Apart from the main cast, there is a feeling of artificiality for all the side characters that make up both vampires and hunters. In general, I did not like the cast of the series. Vampires are not convincing. They were making strange noises I've never seen before. The hunters have not been able to catch a tremendously exaggerated and convincing tone. Also, I can say that the sex scene of Kerem Bürsin and Nilperi Sahinkaya, who is a mockery in social media, is quite surreal. Although the series initially excites us as ideas, it is a sloppy production due to the weakness of the performances and the scenario.
Ahmet Kozan Netflix's first Turkish-made series was published. In this respect, this series has a different importance for me. The series can be criticized in many ways, but it should be noted that it is the first Turkish-made Netflix series. A beautiful story was written by combining Turkish history and places with fantastic elements. In the first part, we see that Istanbul was brought to the forefront. The first episodes of the series were like a little publicity. Towards the end of the first episode, the story is revealed. There are immortals and guards. There is an ongoing war between the immortals and the guards for centuries. And there are those who are loyal. According to other turkish series, fluent and immersive, have a different taste. Another thing I like in this series is; showing past. The story goes back to the Ottoman period. Çagatay Ulusoy are really good. I can't say the same thing for women actors. They are a uninspiring next to Çagatay. Mehmet Yilmaz Ak successfully playacts a small man trying to turn a big job. Although it is one of the remaining roles in the background, it is necessary to underline the player's success. I wish he had more roles. There is no need to say anything about Mehmet Kurtulus and Okan Yalabik. I like their acting. The biggest problem of the series is dialogues. The dialogues were written so badly that even the best actor was unnatural. Continuously repeating the words of "immortal" and "guard". A little artificial. The overall view of the series is beautiful. The director of photography has made a successful job. CGI was very few and really bad. It seemed as if it were made with rush. Special effects should have been better. I found the series a little bright. It could have been better in a dark atmosphere. The musics used in the series was quite harmonious and beautiful. This is one of the most positive sides. The powers of the hero are not fully explained. What are the characteristics of this hero? This should be explained to the viewer in a very good way. Details of why the immortals are bad were not enough. These should be told to the audience. Yes, it was fluent, but there was a commotion in the series. There were some unnecessary scenes. It seems to me that they created a few extra stories to extend the series. This beautiful story could have been better with a good script. After winning the superhero powers, there must be an improvement in his character but there is no such thing here. Still same. If you are making a superhero series, it must have plenty of action scenes. And these action scenes must be incredible cool. Unfortunately, there are very few action scenes. The series was a bit like Iron Fist. The series is nice compared to the standard Turk series, but it's a little bad for the Netflix series. It should be noted that this series is a few steps away from the originals of Netflix in different countries. The lesser the budget allocated to the series may have an impact on this. Because with a higher budget, it would be possible to enjoy a completely different narrative that the journey to different times. As a result; I'm positive about this series. For the first time, we encounter such a fiction. Of course, it has shortcomings, but it's never bad. Even though there are disconnects, the series manages to get rid of them. It's not a legend or a very good series, but it's a pleasant and engaging series. Acting is fine. The Istanbul background used in filming is really as it should be. I'm just negative about the screenplay and CGI. I hope the series shows the success required and we have the opportunity to watch alternative productions like this.
The second season of The Protector's coming. The story was not completely finished. There is also a thick fog about who these Immortals are and how the Guard emerged. The series touched on little to these stories. It's like there's more to tell. Ahmet Kozan |
